PACIFIC WHITE SIDE DOLPHINS
Renowned for their acrobatic displays, these dolphins are usually seen in groups containing 10 to 50 members. Pacific White Sides are sociable creatures that co-operate in group hunts for a variety of small fish and squid. This species has a lifespan of 45 years, average 8 feet ( 2.5 m) in length and weigh around 300 lbs (135 kg).
 

Tail Slapping the water surface is common during socializing, after resting or when agitated. This technique may also be used to herd prey.

• Humpback Whales
  Humpbacks are baleen whales with two blowholes and plates of baleen (a substance similar to fingernail tissue) suspended from the upper jaw. Celebrated for their haunting songs and long migrations, this large whale can be up to 62 feet (19 m) long and weighs around 53 tons ( 48,000 kg). Humpbacks feed on krill and schooling fish during the summer.

Blow! A mist of water is produced during exhaling. Our resident Orcas generally breathe 3 or 4 times, then dive for 3 or four minutes. Transient orcas dive for longer periods, up to ten minutes.

Orca breaching is a fairly common site. Breaching may occur during play, while foraging or when disturbed.

"The Legendary Captain" Ron King, Owner Operator of Sea King Adventures, has over 35 years of experience in the beautiful waters around Victoria and Vancouver Island. He is a certified Master Skipper with naturalist and conservation education.

 In 1995, with the commercial fishery in decline, he discovered his passion and purpose in whale watching and founded SeaKing Adventures Inc.

Because SeaKing Adventures  is Victoria’s only 100% family owned and operated marine tour company, Ron’s commitment to quality, safety and satisfaction is guaranteed! His central location on board the vessel allows him to provide Victoria’s most comprehensive fully narrated, totally interactive and personalized tours.
